Evaluation Methods of a Linguistically Enriched Translation Memory System
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper gives an overview of the evaluation methods of memory-based translation systems: Translation Memories (TM) and Example Based Machine Translation (EBMT) systems. After a short comparison with the well-discussed methods of evaluation of Machine Translation (MT) Systems we give a brief overview of current methodology on memory-based applications. We propose a new aspect, which takes the content of memory into account: a measure to describe the correspondence between the memory and the current segment to translate. We also offer a brief survey of a linguistically enriched translation memory on which these new methods will be tested.

متن کاملMetaMorpho TM
This paper describes the new linguistic approaches of the MetaMorphoTM system, a linguistically enriched translation memory. Our aim was to develop an improved TM system that uses linguistic analysis in both source and destination languages to yield more exact matches to the source sentence. The MetaMorphoTM stores and retrieve subsentential segments and uses a linguistically based measure to d...
متن کاملAssessing linguistically aware fuzzy matching in translation memories
The concept of fuzzy matching in translation memories can take place using linguistically aware or unaware methods, or a combination of both. We designed a flexible and time-efficient framework which applies and combines linguistically unaware or aware metrics in the source and target language. We measure the correlation of fuzzy matching metric scores with the evaluation score of the suggested...
متن کاملIncreasing Coverage of Translation Memories with Linguistically Motivated Segment Combination Methods
Translation memories (TMs) used in computer-aided translation (CAT) systems are the highest-quality source of parallel texts since they consist of segment translation pairs approved by professional human translators. The obvious problem is their size and coverage of new document segments when compared with other parallel data. In this paper, we describe several methods for expanding translation...
متن کاملPrior Derivation Models For Formally Syntax-Based Translation Using Linguistically Syntactic Parsing and Tree Kernels
This paper presents an improved formally syntax-based SMT model, which is enriched by linguistically syntactic knowledge obtained from statistical constituent parsers. We propose a linguistically-motivated prior derivation model to score hypothesis derivations on top of the baseline model during the translation decoding. Moreover, we devise a fast training algorithm to achieve such improved mod...
